people & places were the only organisation I came across at the ‘One Life Live’ exhibition which focused on matching skills against project needs. They provided the opportunity to apply my professional skills in volunteer work and thus allow me to make a more significant difference to my project. Also important to me was the volunteer screening process, which involved such crucial things as a CRB check and questioning of my motivations for doing the work.
I was also inspired by Kate’s (of People and Places) passion for the projects and responsible volunteering/tourism.
